Types of Fish in Lake Brownwood
Bring home dinner or simply catch and release. Lake Brownwood fishing offers plenty of opportunities to catch largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, freshwater drum, and sunfish. Florida largemouth bass in particular was introduced to Lake Brownwood in 1975 and is now one of the predominant fish species found here!

Best Times to Cast a Line
While fishing in Lake Brownwood is excellent year-round, improve your chances of reeling in a win during these optimal fishing times and seasons.
- White Bass: Best caught from May through October in the main lake. White bass are often found on the surface or along creek channels during the late summer season. Beat the heat by casting a line at night under lighted boat docks.
- Largemouth Bass: Best caught from September through May in more vegetated areas. Largemouth bass are often found hidden among plants, roots, or tree limbs.
- Catfish: Best caught from May through October close to river and creek channels with slower currents.
